So much news this weekend...
We kick off(Pun Intended) with some soccer news. Manchester United won the fiercely competed derby against Manchester City on Sunday. This amazing feat was achieved by a last minute free kick taken by Van Persie. It is the first time Man City was beaten at the Etihad since 20 December 2010. What would a derby by without some off the field antics? Rio Ferdinand suffered an eye cut, apparently from an object thrown during celebrations after RVP's goal. Maybe it originated from a grassy gnoll. Who knows? O, and a fan stormed onto the field and had to be restrained by City's goalkeeper Joe Hart.
The Soweto Derby ended all square as Lehlenolo Majora's second half goal cancelled out Colling Mbesuma's first half strike at Soccer City on Saturday afternoon.
Golf
Charl Schwartzel won the Thailand Golf Championship, and a whopping US$1 Million by beating Bubba Watson and some asian dude. Well Done!
Boxing
Sunday morning I got up at 4 am to watch the much anticipated fight between Manny (Pacman) Pacquiao and Juan Marquez. The battle took place in front of a huge crowd of 16000 people, the likes of which included Mitt Romney and 50 Cent. Pacquiao was knocked out in the 6th round with one second left before the bell rang. The Pacman was ahead with one point on the scorecard before he walked into Marquez's fist. Bam!
Madiba
Last week we received news that our favorite statesman is in Hospital for some routine tests. Although he is still in Hospital, the government reassured us that he is in good shape and even the President took some time off to visit him in hospital on Sunday.
Sand Artist Sudarsan Pottnaik created a sand sculpture of Madiba at Puri Beach on Sunday
